Complete decimation on Pine Island...
« on: October 04, 2022, 05:48:17 PM »
Hey y'all, we made it but our trees didn't :'( Those who were interested in budwood there's nothing left to take from, I apologize but we've had no internet nor service to get ahold of those requesting budwood, cuttings and grafts. Figured I'd update everybody because service is spotty as heck.

Hey Jabba. Extremely sad to know you are going through such a disaster. Reassured to know you and yours made it thru the storm.

When you are ready to start growing back, please don't hesitate to reach out to me for budwood and anything else I can offer to help. Also have turmerics and gingers for you. Know it's too soon, but hope to help in the near future. We are all pulling for you!!!

Sorry to hear that Jabba. Let us know if there are any plants you are looking for or trying to replace. I'm not big into Plinia, but if I have anything I can send you some plants or at least scions. I'm sure a lot of other people would want to help as well.
Every season I worry we will get hit bad... Hope everyone else is doing ok.

When you get settled and want to rebuild, please share what you would want to acquire.  I'd be happy to help find and send stuff to you.

Definitely!  I’d be happy to do the same and help anyone hit hard in that area as well.  The video footage I’ve seen looks absolutely heartbreaking.  I hope everyone in that SW FL area is safe.  There’s going to be a lot of rebuilding going on for quite some time.

So sorry to hear about your trees, Jabba, I hope your home is Ok and you’re able to rebuild your property as quickly as possible.

Sorry to hear that man. I know what the devastation of a large hurricane is like. 4 or so years ago we got a direct hit from hurricane Michael here in the panhandle  I'm really only down the street from where it made landfall. Took me forever to clean up all the mess. Prayers going out to you bro. Everything will be fine again eventually even if things seem bleak now.
Trying to grow it all!

I'm glad to hear you made it through the storm. Sorry for your trees. I'm willing to donate you some trees from my greenhouse. I have a couple pitaya you may like in the plastic whiskey barrel pots. I would give you 1 of the 2. You had offered me scions in the past. Thank you for that. So sorry for your loss.

You guys are a wonderful community that I'm grateful to be a part of. Thank you all for your thoughts, prayers and well wishes! Won't let this deter our love for growing one bit. I'll let y'all know when we get settled and are ready to start our collection rebuild.

My wife saw him posting Facebook videos of his farm. He made it through, our good buddy dwfl made it as well.

Sorry to hear that Jabba. We got ripped up as well in North Port. Luckily only some of my rare collection were affected, but my banana fences are gone and a lot of down fruit trees. Hope Pine island is back to normal soon because that's my go to for fresh fruit being so close to me. Hope everyone on the island is in good health. Cheers.

It'll take most a few years to bounce back but no doubt they will do it. Sorry to hear you had to experience this too, was not fun. A lot of people lost their lives so really for me to complain about anything else would be petty. Grateful to be alive!
