Hi Berto, if you return to Fatima you are welcome... you are invited to eat in my house!  ;)

Luis,
Thank you for your kind invitation!  Very Portuguese/Brasilian invitation!
Same here, if you ever come to Florida, a "churrasco brasileiro" is waiting for you, including a few shots of cachaca, caipirinha de limao, caipirinha de pitangatuba, a few cold beers, and to close the event, a couple shots of  licor de jabuticaba!
I will let you know the next time I will stop in Fatima. Usually, we stop in Fatima in our way to Covilha!
Take care!
Berto

Well, i have two major problems, the minimum temp here -3 to -4C and some lack of space, that it's a little prob... i'm learning what species can handle here, maby more pitanga and jaboticaba family, maby more sapote family or lychee family... but allways open to new options!  :P

That is very good. We have good neighbors too and this year our sons bought property adjoining ours. I feel so blessed.

I'm going to look up some of your trees that are new to me. Your apples and pears are awesome! Mine are not doing well but the peaches like it here.

Luis you would be surprised at how similar your setting looks to mine. I don't have a mountain view but there are big hills that look like mountains. (Florida actually calls them mountains) and landscape is similar

...or maybe you're a professional tree pruner????

No, it just looks like a lot of work for a still-working 9-5 stiff.
But, hey, if you got the energy, go for it!  You will definitely
have a nice jungle in 8-10 years there.....

How are you liking the golden raspberries?

I have some and I'm just not sure if i like them.  I think part of it is a mental block involving the color.  The red ones certainly have more eye appeal.

Sometimes, not sure why, but my yellows will be almost flesh toned.

Nice to meet you Luis. It is wonderful to speak with a nice person like you. I hope you succeed  and enjoy some of the delicious tropical fruits that you have.

BTW, why don't you try to grow Kwai Muk ?. I think it should grow fine in your area.

Artocarpus hypargyraeus (kwai muk)

Kwai muk bears abundant, plum-sized fruits that have a sweet, citrusy taste.  Reportedly cold hardy to around 26F.

That is really fast for a plant coming from hawai, had any problem with customs even without the papers?
And how much is the shipping?

Luis

I ordered 15 seeds of Chupa-chupa from Jesse Blenn in Costa Rica. It took about 35 days to arrive. When I opened the package I saw 17 seeds but 4 seeds were rotten. The rest were in good shape and Right know, I got 7 seeds that already pushing out of the soil

Try to contact him

Hi my friend! It's a kind of pack that i never see... it's like a quadrangular prism wich fix very very well the plant. The soil is very wet envolved in tin foil. The maximum i get was a few leaves lost...  ;D i will send you a PM...

Medronho fruit is sweet, and the taste i can't compare with any other fruit... it's medronho. And not very juicy... I like it a lot! You can turn drunk if you eat a lot of them...  :P :P :P

Oh cute baby!  I have columnar cactus growing wild near me that produces fruit similar to dragon fruit but not quite as good. The cactus is a large colony now and very productive so I will harvest from it instead of planting dragon fruit (too easy) but I find dragonfruit interesting.  Cheers friend!

Great collection! Lucky you! how did you get all those seeds shipped to Portugal? Mine are frequently confiscated by the customs, but I guess there is a more stringent enforcement in the Azores than in mainland Portugal due to the biodiversity vulnerability of the islands. In any case, well done!

Congratulation....but how did it flower so late in season? I think it won't have enough time to ripen the fruits?!? It should flower in June-July to have perfect maturation in not tropical climate
