Iíve had great growth out of frankies red despite its reputation.  Godzilla has grown well too and looks so cool and massive.  Desert king is the fastest growing.  No fruit yet.  Yellow Thai is taking its sweet time to root, a few months.

Cherimoya are grown outdoor in my area of CA coast.  Itís rarely over a 100f and rarely under 40f but does get down the upper 20ís low 30ís on occasion.  Not sure of the damage it does but local farmers seem to have crops available every year.  Sounds like it will be possible.

That was crazy!  I think it went for 160$.  I was tempted till about the 60$ point.  Then it got silly.

Alright, Iíll not worry.  It did kill a few new growths but that happens.  I did a quick spray with copper.  I get tons of fog and moisture here a few hundred feet from the beach.  Just wanted to make sure I identified the issue and I wasnít missing a growing problem.

Thatís why I planted self fertile, lol.  Some is definitely going to hang into the neighbors yard.  They can help themselves.

All my self sterile stuff is in easier to reach locations.  I was just filling in some dead space.

Got my own Dragon Fruit alley started!  2Ē pvc on rebar into 100 gallon stock tanks.  Itís a little tight but itís what I got to work with.  Added a little bench to hold my 3 gallon pots.  Itís definitely a few more bucks but I like the external trellis design as no wood is inside the dirt.  I didnít want to go traditional concrete posts as I have small children that hang on everything and I didnít want one toppling over.  This planter is all self fertile.  I got one post each of Palora, Frankieís red, sugar dragon, natural mystic, Condor and American beauty.

Any know of any DF that do well with less sun?  Iím planting out a section of my yard with the least sun.  Either I find something that will thrive or Iíll just stick some of my rarer stuff there and use it for cuttings, not expecting it to fruit.  Thanks.

Iíd start by slowing down and getting the feel for the land before you plant everything.  I know you wanna get stuff in fast but you gotta know your property before you drop in 300 trees.  Might be cheaper to lose a few root bound trees than having to take out a whole block of trees.  Plan, plan, plan and donít skip steps.  Good luck, keep us updated.

Iím working on a new design using Doug fir thatís more of a frame around my planters and doesnít sit in the soil.  Should be cheap, the days of redwood are gone.  Iíll post some pics when I got them done.

Good stuff.  Iím going to get more active on feeding.  Most of my stuff is very young so Iíve been going light but I think they are established enough to get serious.  Beautiful little spot you got going.

Amazing results K Rime!  What exactly is your feeding formula and schedule?  Iím not doing nearly as well up here.  We are having a super cold summer.

Iím pushing the zones where I live so I often use black plastic or metal water troughs 3/4 filled for more heat transfer to my plants.  Plus it leaves plenty of room to add worm poop or other fertilizer.  Looking great, cool experiment.

I got some rooting right now.  Weíll see how it is.  Anyone know if itís self fertile or have any other tidbits of info.

Mine sprouted great!  Too bad I was out of town when it happened >:(.  Great seller and I had a good germination rate before they croaked from neglect.  I take one vacation in two years, go figure.

Pm sent, let me know if you donít get it.  PMís have been hit or miss lately.

Iíve been putting off building like 6 trellises I need to build.  Unfortunately they want like 90$ for a redwood 4x4.  Iím having to do some thinking about how to build these damn things.  Canít use concrete (Iím doing planters) and I donít want them to be ugly (some in front yard).

I have noticed those little red riders and the other cheaper type pellet guns that you pump from the bottom are actually quite a bit more accurate than any break barrels i have ever bought. also they take steel and copper bbs rather than lead pellets, which are definitely a heck of a lot better if youre gonna be shooting around edible plants, plus that lead dust even touching your skin is no good. Just my 2 cents

These type of BB guns are actually quite dangerous.  They shoot much slower than modern BB guns and therefore tend to ricochet when hitting stuff like a fence or tree.  Steel bb makes this much worse.

PM sent, let me know if you didnít get it.  The PMís are being funky lately.

Is yours self fertile?  There seems to be some debate on this.
