Hello,

I have seeds now of the red jaboticaba.  This is an early bearing type, (3-5yrs from seed) and bears more frequently than the common sabara.  The tree is small, never exceeding 10ft tall, and easily kept at 6-8ft tall in a pot, indefinitely.  The fruits have less tannin in the skin and can be enjoyed with the skin and pulp being consumed.  They can also be eaten green and full sized!  Cold tolerant to about 25F (brief exposure) when mature.

seeds cost $2 each, minimum order of 5 seeds.  paypal is preferred payment method.

please contact me via email to place orders.

I also prefer to ship only in USA!  but I can make exceptions for certain locations.

thanks very much!

Hey Adam,

If these are kept in a pot, what size pot would be required for a fruiting size tree?  Just trying to get an idea what size pot I would ultimately have to get.   Anyway, I would like 5 seeds and will PM you for details.   Thanks.

BTW, I enjoyed your presentation at the Treasure Coast Rare Fruit Club.  Very informative.

Richard

Thanks for the kind words!  I really enjoyed speaking to your club.

The red jaboticaba can fruit in a 3-5gal pot at first, but will need more root space over the years.

I have a 12 yr old tree, that's been in the same 25 gal pot for about 5 yrs.

I'm going to have to step it up to a 30 gal in a few years for sure.

I think the largest pot you'll ever need will be a 45-50 gal.

At that point the tree will be over 20yrs old, and to keep it happy, you'd need to root prune it like a bonsai tree.

let me know if you have anymore questions!

thanks!

Would love to buy some of both:)

hello my friend in India, please send me an email to flyingfoxfruits@gmail.com, thanks!

I presume it is red hybrid and not scarlet (escarlate) Saff?

Red jabo is supposedly a hybrid of M cauliflora and M. aureana (i believe this to be true)

Escarlate is supposedly a hybrid of the red jaboticaba, back crossed to M. aureana.

does that answer your question?

Mike, I believe it's the red hybrid you sent me a couple of years back? If so, slow but all doing well.
