Hey All!

I have a few garcinias that am unsure about. Have my hunches, but wanted to see what others think.  Please post your guesses for each.

My guesses:
A lemon drop mangosteen
B-lucs Garcinia
C-achachairu

But I’m dedinetly not an expert, I just grow the three and a few more I mentioned and those look simaler but wait for someone who actually knows like luc or flying fox fruits.

This is not easy but I'll stab in the dark. That one first could be anything even prainiana, the second might be something like brasiliensis or a relative and the third looks bit like luc's but achachairu can look similar.
I might also stick a few some time and see if anyone gets any right because its tough with this genus even with new growth.

Interesting. This is fun.

Agreed, it is not easy.

Just a guess. I have madruno, lucs and achacha and they all look identical.

New growth on (C) - definitely not achachairu. :)

B and C look a lot like lemon drop, but their leaf variation looks slightly different.

I have an achachairu that puts out red new growth. Not quite that red but I believe that is a function of nutrients.

thank you everyone!

My guesses are:

A) g. hombroniana (seashore)

B) g. brasiliensis

C) g. intermedia (lemon drop)

This is based upon looks and recollection of seedlings and seeds from a couple of years back.

...of course, anything is possible

It's not just the color. Leaf morphology as a whole is different as well. And achachairu never puts out dark red growth. More of a pale pinkish color just as yours looks in your photo.

the difference in node length b/w brasiliensis and intermedia is substantial.

bras. is a cool little tree thus far.
