Mallika pine/resin taste seedlings
« on: September 01, 2021, 07:56:11 PM »
I had several Mexico grown Mallikas for the first time a couple of months ago, and I had planted some seeds. I'm trying to identify them now, although I understand that they're mono. I also have a hard time remembering if there was a very strong resinous taste in them reminiscent of Carrie/Alphonso for example? Could you please confirm if that kind of taste is not very well pronounced in Mallika. Thanks

I have a mallika and the fruit is very sweet and little citrus flavor.
I was told they have a spicy component but so far I haven't seen it.

That's very helpful, thank you.

Never detected any Indian type spice in Malika.

Mallika gets funky when overripe. Not sure how much piney-spiciness it has at that point, but definitely has some other flavors cooking.

I labeled many as citrusy so they must be in those. I wish someone breeds a less finicky Mallika, I do enjoy them even without Indian type spice.
