Mango: ST Maui, do you like it?
« on: October 18, 2021, 08:53:37 PM »
This year I have 3 big fruits -- big one like 2 lbs -- the first time from a 3 years old graft. Very interesting taste, with more flesh to seed ratio. I don't see much discussion about this variety on the forum. It has perfect balance of sweet and acidity, with a nice perfume of something like Kesar.  The last one still on the tree today. It is in SoCal.

Scions bought from Alex.

Fruit looks like a giant apple:

I was waiting for someone else to reply to question. I've had it several times. Not sure if I've had it at Peak but it is very good. I also to have a graft. It is on my sweet tart. Curious to see if St Maui is much more vigorous than the Tart.

Yes at every available opportunity I like to display Alex's beautiful wonderful mangoes

Bovine, your ST looks quite different than mine in color and it was in full sun. When ripen it still had the same color as in linked pic.

Probably because it's in a more ripened stage.
That photo was from when I was in Deerfield Beach in the second week in June. I also had some when I stayed in West Palm Beach Shores in July. I will look for that photo

We’re eating the last ST Maui. I noticed that these fruits had the unique tiger stripes in the fresh. Any other mangoes have the stripes?

I will say that people wrote about the Edward having a perfect balance of sweet and acidity, but I think ST is even better many times, plus the aroma in the taste, and I have Edward too.
