Feijoa Scion for Trade
« on: March 03, 2023, 08:50:42 PM »
Howdy everyone.

I just clipped a bunch of scion from the Huntington Arboretum's Woodmansee collection (with permission).  I have more scion than I realized I'd end up with but thought it would be a good opportunity to trade with others who have cultivars that I do not, so that I can amass an even more ginormous feijoa collection, haha.

Here are the cultivars. If there's anything you would like and anything you have that's not on the list, please let me know.

Id be down to trade.
I have Strawberry and tropical white from Four Winds Growers
I also have Pink, Lemon and Pineapple from my buddy down in SoCal
I tried rooting 3-4 of each of these with sharp 45 cut dip in Aloe, coco/peat plugs heat mat and humidity domes got 0 to root.

Nissanversa didn't get a message.

I'm not sure on top varieties actually.  Gonna have to find that one out myself.

Pneuma I think you might be thinking of Psidium spp.? Feijoa is Acca sellowiana and isn't compatible with Psidium unfortunately. I think some people do have success rooting them though.  If you ever make it to santa cruz I can hook you up, but will also be grafting a lot of 1g plants that should be available later this year.

I believe Mammoth is the biggest. I tacked that onto my tree yesterday.

Nice!! My 1g grafts are starting to push too. My field grafts are looking less great as I did them all right before a series of atmospheric rivers. Maybe too much moisture got on the grafts becasue the parafilm seems to absorb water.

Same issue here, got stormed out post grafting and a lot don't look too hot. We'll see.

Yeah, we had lots of rain scheduled so I kept the grafts wrapped with foil until the rains subsided.

Got good takes coming in on my orchard grafts. Everything still looking green. I stripped all the buds off below the grafts to continue to encourage the grafts to take. Looking good though. Yee haw

Looks like even my smallest graft is pushing good growth. Very excited here!
This gives me encouragement to try my grafting with other trees as well! (Hoping to graft some jabos next).

Really thankful for the opportunity, nattyfroootz!
