Hi,
It is on, you're right ;D ,lol, not the kent.
I continued to do research and I think it is similar to Amélie mango  (native to Africa).
I await expert confirmation on the matter.
Thank :D.

I would agree that it does not look like a Kent. All of my Kents are a darker green with red (not orange) coloring at the top.

yes, that is the usual, but i have seen kents with that limish color in supermarkets here, hence my suspicion. Or maybe that was the light playing tricks on my. Not sure. I'm no expert, but the description of the fruit plus the fact that it comes from the supermarket makes me suspect kent. Perhaps keitt? we never get those here but perhaps they also fit the bill?

Maybe it's a Carrie, I need a photo/description of the seed to be sure.

Jeez, plantlover did it ever occur to you that poster is in Europe, and and supermarket availability might be radically different from US? Why are you sticking to Kent simply on supermarket theory ??? Having said that it does look like Marathon brand Kents I buy form Indian grocery store. They look exactly the same and never develop red blush. Marathon brand Kents I find superior to Kents from other stores.

Doesn't look like Kent or Carrie.  Or for that matter, any mango I am familiar with in its exterior ripening coloration pattern. I am also unfamiliar with Amalee.

Somebody remind me next summer to take pictures of the mangoes I get from Indian store and post it here. They look exactly the same like these. They may not be Kents but definitely called as such.

Maybe a slightly rounder Madame Francis mango?

that actually leads me even more to kent, as i have heard that kent tends to be available in at least some european countries and i have had kents that look exactly like that picture. Marathon brand.

In Europe i always check the box where they are in. Some supermarkets leave them in the original box and there we can see which one they are.

Kent's can be huge and have more color most of the time. But i don't buy them often because they taste so bad compared to fresh Thai mango's.

Hello to all,

Thank you to everyone for all the interest focused on the subject.

In Europe, the mango market has multiplied by five in 5 years, because before we had mangoes from Africa (Ivory Coast, Mali, Senegal), of Brazil, Peruvian, they arrive in the summer , at Christmas and some Easter.
Today, mangoes come: of Spain (future leader), Israel (second leader future) for Europe and Latin America (all producer countries), Africa (all producer countries), in European supermarkets and other countries such as India begins to enter in the supermarket in fresh fruit, but also form of a sorbet and fruit juice.
The mangoes from Thailand, Indonesia (for me are the best in the world) remains in Asian specialty grocery with a newcomer this year, Australia.
A real war of the mango is installed to conquer the European market, where the difficulty identified, they are placed on the spread without being identified on posters shops.
etc. ............
I ate the second mango this morning and here is my description:
mango is fleshy, sweet, no fiber, sweet flavor with a hint of citrus, an aftertaste of hazelnut, citrus scent, the seed seems monoembryonic apparently, excellent mango.

Here are more pictures:

Sorry for the errors :D.

Anaxel ;).

Glad you enjoyed it.  I still can't make a positive ID.  Madame Francis is always a kidney shaped mango.  So I do not think that is it, especially when you describe the flesh as fiber-less. That takes Madame Francis out of the equation.

Found some pics from travels archive. Can anybody ID these?

First one, no idea what is it. Just a wild guess, Maha Chanok??
Second purchased in Sri Lanka. They tell me it is Indian Alphonso. Is it truly it?

First one does not look like Mahachanok in either shape or color.

Second one,  shape has a little more of a pronounced curve and hook/beak than the Alphonsa I have seen grown here in SFla.

Ok, thank you. I really expected you to know the first one, but I guess it will remain a mystery. Impressive and unusual skin, but it was quite bland. Second one was pleasant and smooth. Good mango, but no Indian flavors or wow factor. I guess that's how Alphonso grows for you guys in South Florida (if its indeed Alphonso).

ps. Never had my chance to say welcome back and nice to see you posting again! :)

I've picked mature Mallikas (from my tree) with that "hooked" base (2nd mango pic). Looks a tad bit over ripe as well.

Thanks DL.

I would be very confident in saying its not Mallika.  The features look a little too exaggerated.   Also, overripe or not, I would say DL should have noticed stronger flavors and a distinct "Indian taste".
