People have a Way to force Rhubarb To go to stalk in the Off season
Rhubarb (Rhuem) Is dug in the fall , and placed in a cold Basement (root cellar ) in the dark.
(edit) Water it (keep in wet straw)

Will make another harvest
Will kill the rhubarb though
(according to those old European Knowledge I read that from.)

(edit)I believe you may even let it go dormant in a basement let it dry up
to grow in the next season ,
(I have bought them dry from Garden centers in stores up North )
I seen it growing on a raised bed in New Orleans so Upper Florida I may be Okay.

Used to pick 40 Pounds , and Ferment into wine
The row Didn't even look like I gathered any

I like that wine 9% , dry,
Do not eat , or drink 6 to 8 pounds at a time it is not good for you.

I did that once in 1991 my dad lived on a Oak Hammock Sandridge which water retention was an issue. If you dig a hole and poured water in it  water would migrate faster than you could pour. Long story short I was a young fella and I didn't stick with garden for very long

The best way to do it is chop up your rhubarb boil it  down add some orange candy slices.  When it cools down pour over ice cream.

Guess you posted while I edited
Forgot to say Water while in basement , and raised bed.

Oak Hammock Sandridge in gainsveille
that is far south

Did you have to re dig it, or it can back or was that just from one year?

Rhuem  is in the Knot weed Family
Polygonaceae
That stuff grows Out of control.

Ever make the Pie or cake  ?
I always request a Cake for My Birthday It is May
Like it sour Some recipes add way to much sugar, and it tastes bad (some recipes in America do that)
Love How the Cinnamon sugar is Caramelized  crusty on top .Crispy
(I had a cookie recipe like that way to sweet
better to have more rhubarb on hand just in case that happens to add to batter.

Rhubarb melted with Chocolate Taste like (chocolate covered raisins raisin -etts )

Martha Stewart Says She doesn't like Rhubarb With Straw Berries
She says
Rhubarb, and Raspberry the flavors Compliment Each other.

The rhubarb wine I have tastes from the Wineries is bad

They sweetening up just a little to make it taste like a sweet tart.
it ruins the subtle flavors , or a actual sipping wine
Better to have it completely dry .

I like mine 9%, and as a white wine Mine is a more bold flavor
(Dryness tannic , not like the mass produced  cheap stuff  taste ))

I prefer red wine, but one year I drank either a 6 gallon Carboy or 5 gallon carboy
A pint every day of the summer  to sip it or my bike rides  it was so good.,

After harvest you dig up the Rhizomes put in a ziplock bag put it in the freezer till spring has to go through dormancy. You should ride your bike up to Michigan and get some black cherries. Did not know Martha Stewart serve time in Joliette did you swap recipes LOL
