My Longan is not setting flowers

(1/4) > >>

SoCalGardenNut:
I think this is a second year. I suspect we don’t have a cold winter to encourage bloom production.
How do you get rid of a large tree?
I’m thinking of putting a large container where it is and cover the area surround it with something black, no sun, no growth, do you think it will work.
Very frustrated with non productive trees.

K-Rimes:
Longans tend to be crazy productive in SoCal. I am very surprised to hear you are not getting any fruit.

SoCalGardenNut:
I had fruit and blooms 2 years ago. But this particular tree had fruit many years, very light but I do see them, but not in the last 2 years.

K-Rimes:
Are you pruning the tree hard? It fruits at the tips, so it's good to really whack it back.

SoCalGardenNut:
I did last year, I whack it back hard last year.
Does your tree has any bloom yet?
