Added a pack of 3 Neelam scions freshly harvested today
Also 3 little gem scions freshly harvested today, buds are not swelling much but should be ok for grafting.

djseaquist, many plants have buds where new growth will come, Pouterias just have immature leaves. When the plant is ready to flush, the leaves expand and form into proper leaves. If I can get some photos from my plants onto the computer then I will send them.
I bought a large grafted canistel 6 months ago and it has not flushed, the baby leaves are not doing anything. They will probably go in (my) Spring when the frosts are over and the temps warm up.
In terms of damage, I'm not really sure, just keep the plant happy (I guess keep the conditions as they are) and it will probably just pretend that nothing happened.

I thought everyone did.

Why cant OP keep pruning the kent to allow condo varieties to grow?

He totally can.

But it will be something he will have to be super proactive about.

From what I’ve read, even if a tree is self-pollinating, it’s best to have two of each to improve fruit set.

I grow # of (fill in the blank) based on consumption.  I'm "planting for retirement" so I planted varieties of different trees and such based on personal family consumption and the pollination requirements of the tree.  Will do grafting to increase varieties, if needed.  We will probably have more than we can consume even when planting just one of something.

Checking on the status of the tree these days.  It has been quite some time, how has it performed overall?

I don't think I would want to prune the Kent. I want the Kent as the main top and just have branches of other varieties.
