Bunches of chickasaw plum seeds available. Makes a great rootstock for many prunus species. Very prolific fruiters on their own right. Fruit is pretty good. Some come out more tart than others but are generally good enough to eat out of hand. 5 seeds for $3 plus applicable shipping.

Sorry not sure if I ever replied to your posts. Just now saw them.  Anyways I just cleaned a fresh batch of seeds. Hit me up if interested.

I also have nice potted plums available too but they are local pickup only. I can ship small ones bare root when they are in dormancy during winter. They likely wouldnt survive being dug up while in active growth. At some point if I have small potted seedlings I'd be able to ship those at any time.

Not totally sure but we do get pretty cold here believe it or not in the FL panhandle. I would assume in Texas even in the southern parts likely have a similar level of cold in winter.

Based on a friend who lives up there you might be colder than Houston

I do stratify the seeds but not sure it's definitely necessary. Wild plums extend much further down the state than here. Unfortunately not an expert on their requirements but always worth a shot. At the least I'm sure they'd grow out enough to be rootstock. Makes a real hardy rootstock in my experience.

To germinate plum (or any prunus really) reliably, place the seed in a vice and crack the seed coat. You should just hear the "crack." If you do it right, it does not damage the seed inside. Then, remove the seed coat and you will see that the seed inside looks like a tiny almond. Place the seeds in moist pearlite (or damp paper towel if you are cheap like me) in a Ziploc bag in the fridge and plant in the soil when they develop an 1/8" root (about a month or so later). I have never tried without stratification. Germination is almost 100% with this method.

I just clean the chickasaw seeds and stratify. They come out of their shells super easy on their own. I don't crack them or anything. If you just let them sit in the fridge they will begin to sprout at about 1-2 months and just plant as they sprout.

Still bunches of seeds available for the plums. Nearing a month into stratification as well. Usually 2-3 months will suffice. They often sprout in the fridge and you can plant as that happens or just give them that stratification time period and plant.
