I've got chickasaw plum but they are well awakened for the year and fruiting right now. If you are willing to try grafting them this time of year I can take cuttings. Not sure it's the best time to try though.
Trying to grow it all!

Oh awesome!! Thanks so much for the reply! I completely understand about them being awakened at the moment. Do you think I could get some fresh growth cuttings so I can try rooting them? I've rooted peach and plum cuttings with ease so these should be easy too, I think at least lol. If not, could I get back with you come fall and get some dormant scions?

If you wanna try that's fine with me. They are loaded with fruit right now. Might be best to wait for them to be done first. Or better yet I could probably dig you some smaller root runners if you like but I don't know what the success rate of survival would be especially after being shipped. I have dug them in summer and had them survive transplant but you'd need to keep them well shaded and moist until you know they definitely have established well. Third option is seeds in a month or two. They sprout very readily after 3 month stratification.
Trying to grow it all!

Ohhhh my dumb ass never even thought of seeds LMAO. I would definitely love some seeds if that's okay! Can I message you here in a couple months to check back? I'm in Louisiana and trying to get all native fruit trees I can. So I'm trying to get Chickasaw, Mexican, American, and hog plums. I'm also looking for mulberry and maypop. After those I'll have everything I think lol. I really appreciate you being so kind and responding.

I do have some yellow Hog plum seedlings in 4in pots. I did have some Mexican plum in 4in but unfortunately just moved them all into gallons. Not practical to ship now. My buddy has a native peach and I'll likely get some seeds before long. Super prolific and quick to fruit from seeds. Less than 2 years. Self seeds readily from fallen fruit too. Lots of heavy producing wild Mulberry here. Likely morus alba not rubra but there is true rubra around too. Maypop here too. Maybe in another few seasons my Flatwoods plum will fruit. It maybe whats also called American plum but not sure. It's a native here in north florida. They are more tree like but chickasaw is more bush like. Don't forget native pawpaw and persimmon trees too.
Trying to grow it all!

Make sure your pears are blight resistant. I planted Potomac and Warren for Euro pears and Dasui Li and Shin Li for Asian/Euro Hybrids.

Holy cow D-Grower! Seems you're the same mission as I collecting native fruits. I actually found a mulberry tree yesterday! I got some cuttings rooting and seeds starting now haha. I really just want one too grow and one for rootstock. I'll order scions from fruit wood nursery when they're big enough to graft. I would definitely be interested in some of those native peach seeds for sure! I have American persimmons I found in my property last year too haha. I was just walking my acreage and spotted some orange fruits in early fall. I instantly knew what it was and freaked lol. Id be more than happy to purchase whatever you have come fall is that's cool? You have a lot of chill stuff going on sounds like!

And thank you oolie! Where are you located at if you didn't mind me asking? Just the zone is fine if that's all you're comfortable with. And if those 2 European pears you got, which I've do you like more fresh eating wise?

We also have a bunch of Bradford pears over here too. I've been curious if I can graft a European pear to one of those that are already established. I'm still doing research so I haven't came to a conclusion yet. I know they're invasive but theres quite a few or here. I've even killed a few too.

Bradford is a selection of callery pear. Yes, they make excellent rootstock. That is why they were originally imported from China. It is possible that some varieties of pear might be more compatible, but I think most pear varieties work. You will find lots of information about grafting to callery and even info about hybrids with cultivated pears.

My pears were in Southeast AL, but I brought some scions with me to WA. The Euro ones have yet to fruit, but the Warren is supposed to take some time ~5 years or so to begin fruiting hence the lack of commercial acreage. The Potomac was more than twice as vigorous and is supposed to be more acidic than the Warren. I usually don't allow my trees to fruit until established, at least 3 years of age.

The rootstock should also be blight resistant if you want your trees to be most protected.

Did your Potomac pollenate the Warren? I just got a pair of pears for a friend and went with Warren and Ayers. I almost got Potomac instead of Ayers.
