For Sale: Dennis, Big Yellow Passion Fruit

Ok, I just tasted a few of the Dennis Big Yellow Passion fruits, they still taste about the same, very good, hardly any sourness.

Instead of cutting all the passion fruit vine, I will take Advance Order now, those on the list can buy it for the price below. I will not take any more cuttings than to fill this order.

I will keep this For Sale open until February/March sometime. We think the fruits will all be done by March so I should be able to start taking fresh cuttings and ship while they are no more than 1-2 days old.

So, here's the Advance Sale Order:

1. Dennis, big yellow fruit, passion cutting, 2 for $15.
2. Shipping cost; you will have two options below:
    2a) Small USPS flat rate box, $11 - cuttings will have no leaves, length about 7-8" long to fit the box.
   > small flat rate box is 5"x8"x2"

    2b) Medium USPS flat rate box, $19- cuttings will have a few leaves, length of each will be about 12-14" long.
      > medium flat rate box is 11"x 13"x3"
The medium box will give you the longer cuttings for the same cost.

3. CA residence will get a slightly larger box for about $11 to ship.
4. Only open to those who have purchased/traded/sold items with me.

5. Cuttings will be taken some time in March/April, fresh, then shipped within 2 days.
6. I have the right to refuse to sell to anyone. If I don't reply to your message to be on the Advance List then you will not be buying any from me.

8. You only pay when I message you to say I'm ready to ship out your order. PayPal, Friends & Family only for payment.

I will try to show some photos again of the fruits, will take another brix reading this week.

Dennis had brix ranging from low =8, to high =16. I will try to take a brix reading again this week when my last fruit I have is ready to eat.

Let me show everyone the two sizes of flat rate boxes you can choose from.

1. Small flat rate
2. Medium flat rate

As you can see from these photos, can't fit much of a passion fruit cutting in the small size box. I will cut some vine before I ship so I can take a photo to show how many leaf nodes it may fit, not much in an 8" long box.

So I recommend you get the medium size box which is 13" long. I will give you longer cuttings, 2, that will fit in this box for the same price as the short ones in the small box.

Just let me know for sure before I start shipping your order, you can change your mind on the box size before I ship it.

Dennis was nice enough to have a photo timeline of his vine since the last time we cut the vine 10 months ago. Since he sent me the photos, I will share it now so you can see how strong his Big Yellow vine grows in only 10 months after we completely cut it back to the main branches.

It was a lot of work hauling those cuttings, this time I will only take cuttings to fill the order, and the rest will go to our CRFG propagation committee to try and root them to sell for the annual plant fund raiser sale..

Is Dennis's Big Yellow self-pollinated passion fruit?

Nop, it is not self pollinating. So he manually hand pollinates all the flowers on the Dennis and it will hold fruit. He uses either the Fredericks or the p. Quadrangularis. These other two passion fruits are the only other ones he has in the yard. When my plants eventually has flowers, I plan to use my large purple fruiting vine.

Just came back from Dennis's place and got some cuttings for those who ordered it. I should be able to ship out fresh cuttings starting Monday.

He did show me some of his rooted cuttings so it will root, just not as easy as the purple ones. My purple vine and P.decaisneana roots so easy, you can just stick the cuttings in water and wait for roots to grow, or just stick it in any pot with other plants and it will start to grow many feet in less than 6 months.

If fact, I noticed I will need to cut back on both the purple passion fruit and p.decaisneana vines so if anyone like to buy, then the same price as above. For the P.decaisneana you really need to buy the medium box since the leaves are larger and nodes are farther apart.

Here's my purple fruit next to Dennis Big Yellow fruit. It's the one in the top middle.



Sometimes my purple vine has these larger egg-shaped fruits, other times it has round fruits about the size of the Qinmi#9. Taste wise, same as the normal Fredericks, Possum Purple, etc. Very easy to root my purple vine, just put it in water until you see roots, or just poke them into any pot with other plants growing.

I am offering the Dennis Big Yellow Passion fruit cutting one last time. By now most people who want this has already purchased it,
Here's the details:

The p.decaisneana is easy to root cuttings, either put the cutting in water and wait until you get roots or just plant the cutting in a pot, keep in shade until you see new growth.

Dennis Big Yellow passionfruit requires manual hand pollination. The two varieties he uses for pollination are:
1. P.Quadrangularis
2. Fredericks
