I have two solid vines, like 4 or more years in ground. They both flower and I’ve yet to see a single fruit. I thought maybe I needed to hand pollinate… nothing. Ready to chop these down and start over. It’s a shame because it should be raining down fruit. They both cover this crepe myrtle.

I’m looking for anyone that grows a delicious passion fruit to either buy or trade for cuttings or a rooted plant.

Thank you!

They could be ornamental hybrids. Could you post closer pictures of the flowers? Thanks!

I used to have close up pictures but I may have deleted them. I have done a horrible job of keep track of the types/ sources of my passion vines but they either have come from seeds that I got from fruit or cuttings from sources that were growing for fruit.

I had same experience. I even hand pollenated to no avail. Was in denial that the plant may have been mixed up at the nursery. Had it in the ground for 2+ years. Annoyed, that i would have to start over. I tired grafting it but the grafts lingered and then died. Finally, ripped it out. Planted new one first season flowered and fruited without hand pollenation.

So frustrating. These vines are super healthy and flower profusely, and I just imagine all the fruit I’d be swimming in. Do you know which variety you had that fruited for you? Still have it? Any chance for cuttings?

I have some rooted cuttings of passion fruit. I grew many seedlings from Brazilian Large yellow out. Kept 2 which set tons of fruit one is purple medium size and the other is yellow large size.

I have rooted purple one and a qinmi #9. Also have various 2nd gen offspring seedlings.
Grow mainly fruits, vegetables, and herbs.

I’d love those. Sounds like no rooted yellow, can you take cuttings? How is the purple one? Can you tell me more on qinmi9?

RevivalR00ts, don't completely get rid of you vigorous vine, leave a main stock in case it fruits soon.

Remember I had my unknown p.quadragularis which had really nice looking flowers and it was as large as yours, just straight up on my pomelo tree. After I cut it all up for the contest, Orkine got it to fruit in another 1-2 years and that fruit is big and huge. Now I asked him to send me some cuttings since I didn't have any plant so I will be rooting/grafting my unknown p.quad to my vigorous vines.

If you want to trade for something, I can send you cuttings of my purple fruit vine, very vigorous, self-pollinating, or the P.decaisneana (needs hand polination).

You can see my purple fruit, somethings it gets medium size as shown below, other times it is the size of Frederick but spherical/round.
Middle purple fruit: Giant Yellow is Dennis, the other 2 are nullzero's fruits, best tasting is Qinmi#9.

Revivalroots, the purplish color on the outer part of your passion flower petals makes me think it's a hybrid; and probably self sterile. Pure edulis is white on the outer part.

I have two vines, I would think they’re being cross pollinated.

I would love to trade with you if you want any pomegranate varieties (cuttings) or just cash for vines. I'm in Mission Viejo.

I was saying the trade is for Jeremy.

Mr. Z, you have not purchased or traded with me before, and you are too new. Wait another 6 months and I will consider selling it to you.

Gotcha no worries I can wait. I have been on here before for a long time it's just I don't have access to my old email account anymore which sucks.

I think Katz told me once that chicken manure helps these fruit.    If not, someone did.   Worth a try

Yes, that is correct. I was told by Hoang that give it chicken manure before they start fruiting. It seemed to work that time when I got 43 fruits to ripen. I have been too lazy and busy to do it again this year, so I see sporadic flowers this year, nothing like when I fertilized. Just go to Home Depot, they sell it in bags.

I better go buy it now, give it to my new Qinmi#9 plants.
