Hi anyone else going out forging in the middle of No where ?
I am curious if anyone knows of good stuff to bring out doors in Fall
for going into the deep woods marking tree's for collecting Dormant Scion wood before the sap flows in  spring  ?

(I know for bears Gun or mace , but not all National state parks let you carry one I will have to look into.)

Also let me know if you have any good Geo Coaching site ?
I hope to learn from people more experienced on this to save me time!

I went forging , and marked a good Pawpaw with 4 seeds , but the route was full of Multiflora rose bush

The new Route I took a year later  was clear, but I couldn't re find
(unless I re walked old route for hours  through thorns -- and I did have machete ) even though I was near it
So I am wanting to know of good GPS's

If I am going to spend a week out there I would want to know
I had a Nice one, expensive even said altitude   but was disappointed because it did not show the town over by me
(I was just outside  Carbondale IL., but right  near Makanda IL (maybe Giant City state park)

I think it is Important if I am near a town to know even though I like surprises the GPS didn't tell me .

I also want to know if those GPS Camera 's do good in deep woods out of civilization

Well I may just get stuff again from the after market

I will let the group know what I decide ,
but since after market it may not be the best choice.

I also bought some very nice Binoculars

This is the best way to find persimmon tree's
you do not look for the fruit, but the bark since they have Alligator bark
(like you look for morel mushroom you look for the tree bark off in the distance.

OH I hope   someone could guide me as I am not the best knowing new technology
and I know a tent can be heavy, but there are a ton of things I may over look got to get a water filter as well.
