Solved: Lemonquat/Sunquat seed

(1/2) > >>

martweb:
Who can help me with a bunch of seed of Lemonquat/Sunquat?

mikkel:
Do you mean Sunquat?

martweb:
I am still not 100% sure. Some say, Sunquat and Lemonquat are the same, others they are a bit different. So Sunquat seed is welcome as well.

Lwpeter:
Sunquat is an open pollinated cross between Satsuma and Kumquat.
It was found in Jamison’s PYO Citrus Orchard in Pearland Texas.

I was good friends with the guy who found it and grew it, Louis Walden of Brookside Village, Tx.
He recently passed away.

Sunquat fruit is slightly smaller than a tennis ball, rind is edible like a kumquat, fruit bears on ends of branches.

Unfortunately I didn’t cover my very large Sunquat in the Texas Feb 2021 freeze and it froze to the ground. It was a seedling and is coming back.

martweb:
Could you describe the taste of rind and flesh?
