Hello Ilya,
thats a very good Idea and even easy to do, due to my greenhouse is situated on my garage roof which is flat and I have
it covered with an mix of earth and lava stones so it' s easy to integrate the pots.
You are right concerning the temperatures, I guess I haven' t expressed me properly, because I meant keeping 0 degree as lowest temperature.
Yes during day there are fast temperatures over 10 degrees in the greenhouse with light sun.
I think this should also be a proper solution for potted bloomsweet and Co, in combination with a heating cable for very cold temps.

Cold Hardy Citrus / How to overwinter potted Poncirus

Hello Citrus Experts,
I have some smaller Poncirus in pots which I want to take as rootstock for grafting next year.
The pot diameters are about 8 cm in diameter and the plants are about 20 to 30 cm high.
Now I ask me if they loose hardiness if I overwinter them in my greenhause which I keep
between 0 and 1 Degree Celsius (32 and 33,8 degree Fahrenheit).
Otherwise I fear that the roots of the Poncirus get freeze damaged if I let them unprotected on my veranda.
Similar question concerning some potted cold hardy plants as Thomasville, Bloomsweet, Ichang Lemon and Changsha mandarin with pot diameter about 15 cm and hights of about 50cm, which I want to plant in ground next early summer. Do they loose hardiness if they go to the greenhouse in Winter ?
Currently they still stand beside the greenhouse with fleece protection.

Hello,
I got plants from Adavo(Rakytnik), Pepinieres Quissac, Myplantbox.de,Zitronenlust, Agrumi Lenzi, Oskar Tintori.
And Baumschule Schleipfer in Augsburg ( no internet, but friendly and good plants, got there a New Zealand grapefruit which I couldn' t get elsewhere 😅).
All of the above mentioned plant nurseries sent me very good plants to reasonable prices and I was very content also with contacts and reliability

my garden with in white the protected citrus (Citrumelo variants, citrange morton and ichangensis Ivia).
Normally I wanted to show here some pictures of my winter protection.
But Sorry don' t know why the picture upload don' t works anymore 🙄🤔, guess I still have to look for the problem.

my lemon got impressed by -4.1degree C, the young shots get frozen. The older leaves and the Satsuma are not impressed.
But today they moved to the greenhouse.

Hello together,
I live in zone 7 and I' got this year crazy for winterhardy citrus, but also for greenhouse citrus.
Last night we had unexpected - 4,1 degrees C, one m away from house wall on ground. Announced by meteo have been - 1degree.
So I was glad to have installed yesterday evening my regulated greenhouse heating and still a few wrappings around the most of my outdoor planted citrus.

Hello tropical fruit enthusiasts,
my name is Frank and I live in zone 7 in
southern Germany. After growing cactus as pupil,
my first holiday in southern France in the mediteranean coast, for windsurfing, led me to get enthusiastic with Citrus and figues.
And the last about 30 years i tried to cultivate
a lot of sub tropical plants in my garden, not always but often successfull .
This year after buying a potted Satsuma and a Pomelo
I got still more citrus enthusiastic and tried to get a great range of cold hardy citrus and planted them in my garden.
Quite a while I already visited this interesting forum and
now I decided to join.
I find it really huge and with a lot of god and interesting, helping posts - congratulation.
