I'm down in Portland, I have a few small Yuzu now, but you should hit me up in the spring and I will graft up a few Yuzu, Changsha, Xei Shan Satsuma, and others.

Hi, just a heads up from a fellow grower who was keen on getting Yuzu seeds.

During winter 2020-2021 I was looking for Yuzu seeds all over the internet and managed to order from 2 different places. Zero germination rate.

Earlier this year I ordered some fresh yuzu fruit straight from Spain and planted seeds right after peeling the fruit. I had over 100% (even up to 4 sprouts from a single seed!) germination rate. I ordered 3 kilos of yuzus so I had hundreds of seeds and only planted about 100 at first. The rest I left to dry. After about a week I tried to germinate some of the rest, and seems like all of the seeds had died. Not a single one did germinate.

So I would advice on getting cuttings or fresh fruit! Seeds seem super tricky, die easily and are probably a waste of money.

Balance, I have about 10 fruits on my tree now, so when they ripen, I could sell you some seeds.

You can buy a grafted tree from here. They ship to Washington.

I actually have a few really nice rooted cuttings available. Otherwise, try calling Briteleaf. Odds are they have some as well “in the back”

Raze,
thank you for sharing your experience, I've germinated Yuzu seeds from members on the forum before and had a near 100% success rate, I definitely try to avoid buying from odd sources, especially for seeds, they're always hit or miss, generally a miss. Have not had such issues since sourcing from forum members.

Frank,
Will send you a DM soon

I’m too lazy to look it up, but is yuzu seed going to be true or hybrid? Polyembryonic? I know ichangensis makes hybrids. I’m thinking better off with cuttings or grafts.

I think yuzu tends to grow true to seed a majority of the time, only the very occasional polyembryonic seed being found in a fruit, just a conclusion I came to after a quick google search.

I just bought a bunch of yuzu from Specialty Produce here in San Diego. I am cleaning seeds now. PM me if you want some.

Balance, you live in Washington, right? I will have many Yuzu seedlings in spring and I am only interested in the few hybrids that will be among them. But I live in Germany. So it will be difficult to send you something, will it?
