Bucket Mist cloner

(1/1)

Evansmount:
I’m building my own cheapo mist cloner. 5 gal bucket, some holes cut in the lid, foam to hold the cuttings, 90gph pump with a 360 sprayer toward the top to hit the cuttings. I don’t know what kind of rooting hormone I will use but probably some gel..

Has anyone used these to do citrus cuttings? I have a buddy who claims to do this a lot and have great success. He keeps light low and it on 24/7, water temps around 60F. I wanted to try my luck! He says he barely ever used hormone and his calamondin rooted 100% of the time after 2 weeks.

Thats a great idea, I may build one myself. I don't have much space for a large setup, but a simple bucket mister/chamber sounds good. Did you see this on a YouTube channel? One of our members here said to root guava you need to use some type of misting so I'm looking into it now. This could be a game changer for us average collectors.

I've made another simple and cheap cloning setup.
I use a clear plastic box with a lid. on the bottom of the box I place wire mesh which is folded a few times. on the mesh I put my pots or whatever you use to grow cuttings. this is done to create a space of about 1 inch between the bottom of the box and the pots. put water in the box and refill if it is evaporated. under the box there's small heating mat with 10watt power, you dont need much. larger box larger heating mat.
the lid is closed or nearly closed. due to the heat of the mat the water evaporates and makes about 100% humdity. the temperature inside the box is also in an optimal range. all in all a win win situation  :)

In the US many grocery store bakeries get their icing in buckets. They will usually give the empties away for free if you ask nicely.

Very curious to see a picture of it once you’re done. Sounds like it will work better than my current method
