Separating polyembryonic Jaboticaba seedlings
« on: October 28, 2021, 03:43:15 PM »
How long should I wait to separate polyembryonic Jaboticaba seedlings? I think i've heard that you should wait one year before separating but someone correct me if i'm wrong, thanks.

Some of my jabos have multi trunks and I would leave them alone? You don't
have to seperate them.

I prefer to do it earlier than later. Once the roots get all tangled up you're nearly assured to kill one of them. I don't mind the doubles now and just leave them - I've killed a few nice size trunks/seedlings separating and severing main roots.

I too have killed some good size seedlings from trying to separate them. If you don't want multiple trunks you could graft them together to make it a double rootstock. I made a video on the process if you wanted to watch. https://youtu.be/3_UlRAIlMsY

I appreciate all the responses. I will leave them alone I guess, better that than accidentally killing any.
