The last couple of years I have propagated a bunch of dioscorea with varying soccess. The alatas went crazy. A few other types did o.k. About January when the vines had all dried out and some bulbous started dropping I carefully collected the bulbils and brought them into the house. Early March I put them in pots and back outside. Then the critter raids started. Everything got mixed up and no labels were left in place. Guess I'm going to have some now unidentified dioscorea....

The Thai dwarf mulberries I got from Kevin are growing like crazy and are fruiting prolifically. I keep pinching most of the fruit off so they'll concentrate on growth, but they just set more fruit. Thanks Kevin! D

I caught something around Thanksgiving and it went for a couple of weeks. Pretty mild, just tired. Did lose taste and smell. Taste is back but smell is still a bit weak. You'll be fine. D

There are some good threads about Spring blooming loquats. Just search for them. There is good evidence of Himalayan types that Spring bloom, but I don't think they have been imported. D

Artichoke are commonly grown for their flowers and I've read that cardoons are grown for their stalks. Are cardoons just artichokes that don't bloom or make inferior flowers? Are artichoke stalks edible like cardoons? Thanks, D

I didn't even consider that there might be "improved" chilipetins. Some call them chilipequins (pekane). Here they start fruiting about May and they stop with frost. They literally grow where a bird poops seeds, so they are everywhere. Our bad freeze last Winter - about -18C killed them to the ground, but they regrew and were fruiting about 3 months later.
I hope you never find a rattler in one of your chilis! D

Hi Vincent, You may not get enough heat for them. They grow wild in Southern Texas. Typically under a larger plant or tree, because I think they germinate the best after passing through a bird's gut. They grow here in somewhat alkaline soil and are pretty drought tolerant. If you give them a little fertilizer they grow pretty large. Sometime we find young rattlers hunting in them....although that shouldn't be a problem for you😁. Dan
