Surinam Cherry
« on: April 01, 2021, 07:41:15 PM »
Hello all, this is my first post here. This is fruiting now in Broward County, some people hate their astringent taste, but after sharing with the office, a few agree its an acquired taste.

More on the ground at this point

The last one is perfect. I get more small cherries when they are in shade and bigger, juicier, sweeter when they are in full sun.

I love surinam cherry.  I found it growing in many places when I was on my honeymoon in hawaii and would eat it wherever I found.  The bitter test was off putting at first but then it grew on me.  I have two growing in my greenhouse now, a red and a black.  The red just made its first fruit, really tasty.  Both are flowering a lot not but so far only that on fruit set.
