Hey,

I got mine (mexicola grande) from ebay here:
https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/143452589541

Quite expensive for a seed, but both of mine germinated without any issue. I'm always interested in european sources for mexicola avocado.

I have already searched on ebay  but as in your link they are too expensive for a seed, especially adding the shipping cost to Greece :(

I would be quite shocked if that one was available. I believe Brad (@spaugh on here) grafted his over awhile ago and I'm not aware of anyone else growing it, it's one of those old varieties that no one really grows anymore. I have one small graft from scionwood I got from Brad, but it'll be a few years before it is large enough to fruit, assuming either a few mild winters in a row or that I'm able to protect it well enough in winter for it to ever get that big.

I think in Europe, your best bet for hardy seedlings is to find out what the minimum order is from Viveros Brokaw (in Spain), as they offer many hardy options, both clonal and seedling. If enough people are interested to do a group order, you might be able to meet the minimum order pretty easily.

Thanks for the info. I thought all those Mexican varieties such as Mexicola,Puebla, Criollo were quite commom in latin america. To be honest i want to grow one for their leaves because many Mexican dishes ask for their leaves and there are very few Mexican varieties with the licorice/anise scent and flavor. And here in Greece is impossible to find in a store dried leaves, also tried to find online and there are on ebay only some Sri Lankan tea bugs with dried leaves :(

Another option, though may not be cheap, is to grow any normal seedling from the grocery store and order scionwood from a good variety to graft onto your seedlings. Avocados are pretty easy to graft.

If you can't find any EU source for scionwood, you could add yourself to the notification lists for a few varieties from Fruitwood Nursery, but it will be expensive because even though the scionwood itself is cheap, there are other fees they add to international orders, plus the cost of the phytosanitary certificate. Here's their description of the additional charges (in USD):

Quote
International Shipping
$15.00 base fee, plus 30% of the order subtotal. On top of this all international orders need to have a phytosanitary inspection and certificate, which costs $70.00. This will be automatically charged at checkout and is the same for any size order.

For all international orders please contact us in advance via email (corrinaandmarc@fruitwoodnursery.com) so we can make sure the plant materials you want are allowed into the country you are in. Also some countries also require an import permit which potentially could be hard to get.

Note: Our International shipping fee may not charge enough for Priority shipping to all areas. We will send you a supplimental invoice for such orders if you desire this upgraded shipping, which is recommended. The charge will always be enough for First Class shipping, but for going long distances Priority is highly recommended.

Here are a few varieties that all have very good smelling leaves (you have to click "notify me" for each separate variety to get notified when they are available, which usually happens each year in November or early December):
