Yeeee,thanks! must be 30-40 pounds from 1 tree on the westside of SC, fog central. Filled up the panniers on my long haul trucker bike and had to leave my bike lock and water bottle there since no room

I have one gets some damage here in 9b, but outgrows it. I would suggest anything lower than 28f and it's getting burnt at the tips. Down to 25f and you're losing good chunks of it. A large and mature tree may put up with more.

Right on we do get into the teens here regularly unfortunately. I would try them out if they could handle down to around 20F. I suppose they would survive that potentially but would get fully burnt down yearly. Don't figure that'd be good for ever getting fruit.

I'm very interested! Cold is what's killed mine in previous attempts. Our lowest are typically high 20s at night.

What variety is it?

That's like me in my 9b zone. You can definitely pull it off at high 20s, especially if it's just for an hour or two.

It's been debated for 15 years without positive ID. Most likely Inga feuilleei.
Most important is the evidence it is the most cold hardy Inga, since many cultivars have been tried in Nor Cal and failed , while this one thrives. I guess there are a few types that are hard to differentiate from one another by flower, leaf or fruit.

The tree's are in flower now , the new fruit sets will be ripe sometime next year.

Do you know what type these are?

I'd like a box, I'll PM you. I wasn't a huge fan of my own ice cream bean, supposedly edulis, but I'd like the opportunity to try more fruits before I write it off. Container grown exotics in Pennsylvania aren't exactly the best representation of a fruit.

Jonah, your fruits were so good last year when I tried them, first time for me. Can you post a few photos of what a small seedling plant should look like. I think I saved all the seeds from your fruits and planted them, but didn't label so I don't know what the baby leaves look like. Thanks.
