Galangal

<< < (6/6)

Lumi-Ukko:
It's been hard to source Galangal here in Mexico but I finally have three distinct 'plants'. Two recently planted and the other has been in the ground 9 months and has spread out nicely to cover a couple of square feet of soil. Hoping to keep propagating the rhizomes so that I have a whole section of garden devoted to growing these with possibility to sell for foor prep in the future.

Coconut Cream:
I like it as an alternative to growing ginger, I think it is a little more cold hardy and closer to a year round plant above the ground. From what I have seen, it is slow to sprout and it's going to take a while to fill in compared to Canna Lilies.

Kada:
They are ever green and perrenial, get a couple meters tall.  If you want them to speed up, they can take some heavy rain and some fertilizer once the roots establish.  Fine for flood Irrigation, just don't let them sit under water for more than a day.  They handle monsoons and typhoons just fine ;)
