Tropical Fruit Discussion / Callous on Longan airlayers
« on: May 18, 2023, 09:03:09 PM »
I'm checking in the group to see how people have dealt with big callous's on the airlayers. Someone helped me airlayer some longans, but they left some of the cambium "green" parts and they calloused over, there is still enough good roots in the rest of the rootball. I'm wondering would you cut the callous parts off or just plant it into the soil?

Hi guys, i have another month or so of fresh cherimoya. Picking and shipping until it's gone.

7 LB Variety Box | $120 + $0 USPS Priority shipping

Fruit is grown organically, picked fresh, and shipped from San Diego.

This is my yard about 8 years ago showing what rare fruit can be grown in Southern California, more specifically in Coastal San Diego. From Pawpaw to Mango to Jackfruit and many other fruit trees.

**Please DM or Text For Orders: 760-205-3291**

Hi guys, it's harvest season for my Longan air layers. Before shipping they leaf out in my humid house for stronger roots and full leaves.

Some people prefer to buy freshly harvested air layers so I sell both ways:

3 Gallon, 4-6 feet tall, Kohala Longan Air Layers

Fully Leafed Out - $90 + shipping*

Freshly Harvested - $75 + shipping**

* Depending on demand, it may take a week or so before shipping to complete leafing out

** I'll ship your tree right after I harvest it, with ~75% of leaf cover removed and the air layer root ball safely wrapped.

Thanks, Mark

Note: The trees in my pictures need 1-2 more weeks to finish leafing out.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Cherilata in Southern California
« on: May 03, 2023, 09:51:05 AM »
These have been on the tree since last fall and stayed on all winter. Finally they started to soften up this last week.

Hi, the Mary Ln. White sapote is starting to push good buds.

This variety is one of the best that I have tried. I've tried at least 25 cultivars and this is the only one I have planted in my grove. It is medium size, and has light yellow flesh and yellow skin. The taste is very sweet, almost like caramel.

Scions are $5 each and 1st class shipping is $5 to USA residents. The scion wood stays fresh for several weeks.

Some new varieties HoneyHart, Dr.White and an early bearing Lucida.

I've got a lot of different scions available.  All scions will have at least 2 buds.

Scions are $5 each plus $5 shipping, minimum of 5 scions each. I prefer Zelle as payment, but I do have PayPal.

Mary Ln. White Sapote Scions. The fruit is a smaller yellow skin, light yellow flesh that has a nice butterscotch, caramel flavor.

Cherimoya All of these except Fortuna and Santa Rosa are scion grown trees from the UC ANR Cherimoya Research Station, so they are true varieties. The Fortuna was obtained from the original person that developed it, and the Santa Rosa is from a grafted true tree.

Has anyone in the group fruited these Blackberry Jam fruit in California?
I was wondering if these will turn into yellow skinned fruit, or do I have another Randia species?. They have been staying this color for a few months and thought it was the cold here in Southern California keeping them from maturing.

I will have 2 varieties of Pawpaw scions available in April for $5 each plus $5 shipping, minimum 2 scions.

The scions are "Taylor" & "Sweet Alice". Two varieties are needed for the trees to fruit. Even though they are supposed to need hundreds of chill hours I fruit mine on the coast of San Diego with less than a hundred chill hours. I hand pollinate mine and I get plenty of fruit each year.

Please message me for orders.

Thanks, Mark

I have scions of a low chill cherry available that is tough to get.
It is not patented so they can be exchanged between growers. It is called "Cristobalina" from Spain. It fruits well in areas with at least 100 chill hours, I've had mine fruit with only 50-75 chill hours.
The scions are $5 each with a minimum of 2 scions. I can only ship within the USA. Shipping would be $5 for any number of scions you purchase.
Please message me for orders.
Thanks, Mark

Tropical Fruit Discussion / ID of Garcinia w/ leaves and fruit
« on: September 13, 2022, 08:29:20 PM »
I thought this was from Toptropicals years ago as Garcinia Intermedia, it is fruiting here for the second time and the fruit doesn't get very big. The leaves have a sharp tip at the ends similar to M.Pungens.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Passion Fruit problems in San Diego
« on: June 29, 2022, 12:56:48 PM »
So, these passion fruits are all on the same area, I found that one of the emitters was clogged and was wondering if that had something to do with the wrinkled fruit and the brown vines. There are plenty of great looking fruit on the same trellis. Any ideas why the bottomed photo and middle photo of the vine caused these to wrinkle? Also, do old vines need to be pruned out? Thanks

I did a lot of airlayers in the last year, and have trees for sale from thumb size trunks up to arm size with multiple branches, some are even flowering and one has fruit. The prices are from $175 to $825. The photos are of most of what I have. I don't have anything left in the $100 range. These trees took over a year from air layering to rooting to growing out in the greenhouse.

I can't comment on each tree and the price without the person looking at the trees in person. The photos show a variety of sizes, all are rooted and ready to plant.

Thanks, Mark

Just a notice to anyone that bought Kimber Red and Green Custard Apple scions from me in May, I just realized I labeled the Red as Green and the Green as Red. I just ate a red one from what I thought was the green side of the tree. It was berry flavored and real delicious. If anyone needs a refund let me know or I can send you the right scions.

I have a variety that is not one of the named varieties. I call it "Mary Ln." It produces a smaller but very sweet caramel tasting fruit. It is one of the best I have tasted out here in California. It turns yellow when ready. I've added a photo of the Mary Ln. variety almost ripe.

I have scions that are $4 each with $5 1st class shipping in the US.
