Good morning! I'm new to growing plums. They recently started changing color from green to light purple and I'm wondering when to start harvest?

In some YouTube videos online they look bright red and others dark purple/plum color. It's always a challenge beating the critters. Appreciate any harvesting tips!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Pruning Young Multi-trunk Jabos - Help
« on: November 20, 2023, 11:50:55 AM »
Can anyone advise how best to prune a young multi-trunk jaboticaba? I have several different varieties that have sprouted multiple trunks after their summer growth spurt, they're about a year old.

Red lantern pics below. Do I remove all but 1 trunk? Keep the primary 2 or 3? The trunks are fused together at the base. Thanks in advance!

Looking for a replacement for Southern Home grapes which haven't done well. Thanks in advance!

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Where to find tropical fruit in St John USVI
« on: January 15, 2023, 05:22:12 AM »
Wanted to check if anyone has recommended markets or farm stands for local fruit in St John?

We found the woman setup in front of Connections at Cruz Bay (soursop and tamarind this time of year), and Coral Bay organic farm (had no fruit). The grocery stores seem to have imported fruit.

Thanks in advance!

Edit: also found the tropical fruit garden at Annaberg sugar mill ruins

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Purple Mulberry Identification help
« on: June 14, 2022, 05:50:59 PM »
Tag said "purple mulberry" bought it from a nursery in central FL that didn't know the variety. Large leaves grow to 12" long x 10" wide, leaves aren't fuzzy on underside. Dark purple fruit about 1.5" - 2" long, critters usually eat it first, the few I've gotten have been nice tangy/sweet flavor.

Any ideas on variety? Thank you in advance.

Hello, I have a 2 year old ~12 ft tall pink wampee that's defoliated everywhere except the very top. Is this normal for post-winter in Central FL? We had a freeze in January. Should I prune it back? It used to provide a nice green screen to help block the neighboring house in backyard. Thanks in advance for any help.
