How well do these plants relocate from being in the ground back into a pot? I got one of your nelita seedling last year or year before and made the mistake of planting it in the ground. It had a fruit last spring but didn't water enough I think and it dried up....

Anyway I think I put in too much sun, added some bananas around to try n give a little shade. It's been rough here for my plants in ground from all the weather but it's survived extremely well if you ask me.

It's always difficult to diagnose these things from a distance...
Flowering and setting fruit is always a good sign.
All I can say is they do fine here in full sun.
And like most plants... they need sufficient water/moisture to get established.
As an experiment... I've been growing a row of CORGs outside in the ground for the last couple of years... and in December we had temps down to 14 degrees. Coldest so far for them...
They've dropped most of their leaves... but I am hopeful they will sprout back out this Spring.

Either way it was a real nice plant and is still pushing growth so maybe this spring it will cheer up like we hope ypur outside row will do as well. 14° is cold dang it. I would drop my leaves too. Lol

I have CORG seedlings in direct sun from when they pop out of the soil in a much more harsh dry climate than FL. I'd leave it to suffer personally. They are really tough plants.

Yea I'm not gonna attempt to move it. My area is completely different than Miami and the south east coast of FL. It gets really wet summer and really dry winter here. The Koppen climate map shows I'm in the savanna area and the thin strip of coast near west palm stays like a rainforest......I never knew that, anyways..... The other seedling eugenia calycina I have planted are going slow and look happy.

Yes... all of the Fruit photos are from the original Garnet or Grafted same.
The seedlings are grown from the hand-pollinated seeds of that fruit.

Timbogrow I relocated my 3.5' tall in-ground nelita to a pot in mid December before the last freeze and it's been growing happily since. Gave it a bit of hollytone fertilizer and it has new fresh growth. Debating keeping it in a pot but if they survive 14 then should be good to pop back in the ground.

The garnets look beautiful! Hope to add one here in the spring.
