Soursop fruiting in container?
« on: November 07, 2023, 03:50:45 PM »
Has anyone gotten soursop to yield fruit in a container? If so what size of plant/pot was required.

No fruits yet but started flowering last year, pic below is how big it was when it started pumping out buds. It’s definitely possible, idk if they’re on the forum but an Instagram friend produced soursop in their apartment in Ukraine

Looks great, how old is your tree? My largest one is almost 2 feet started from seed from Lance back in February. They grow so fast.  I plan on putting in the ground eventually but want to overwinter it for its first winter.

There was an article long long long ago about someone fruiting a soursop from seed in Russia I think.
Took him 14 years.

14 years!!! I’ve had mine for 5. 2” trunk diameter. It flowered a bunch last 2 years, no fruit set despite me obsessively collecting pollen. Perhaps I should use this for kindling like my jackfruit?

I saw this funny one in a local nursery, posted about it here: https://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=43495.0

Roughly 2gal pot, speculation is roots are into the ground though.

Mine flowers, and fruits if I pollinate, but I mainly grow it for the leaves, so I ususally don't bother. It has set on fruit without assistance, every so often.  It had one this summer that I never saw through the dense foliage. My granddaughter spotted it with her keen young eyes!
Oh, and to your question, it is in either a 25 or 30 gallon pot. I forget which.
