Question in which variety you would grow

If you to choose between planting a Rio red grapefruit and a valentine pumelo, just based on  enjoyability of eating the fruit, which would you choose?

Great question, I asked a similar one on this topic about Valentine.

Really tough, as both are really nice fruit.

My personal opinion is that if you like white grapefruit, go with rio red. If you prefer pummelos then Valentine.

Where you are Rio red will be very sweet, but still have substantial acid.

I would grow the Rio Red Grapefruit.  I have a large inground Valentine pumelo tree.  The tree produces a lot of fruit each year.  Valentine fruit is sweet but has absolutely no acid content, thus giving a insipid quality.

My valentine pomelo had sweet and acid.  It was not totally ripe.

Poncirusguy, wait until you fruit becomes ripe and deep red in color.  Your fruit will have no acidity.

Rio red is one of my favorites along with ugli fruit. Never tried the pomelo.

Millet   I don't have to wait that long to get a good balance of acid to sweet.
