Mango: Peach Cobbler seedling fruit looks so different
« on: September 12, 2022, 03:19:25 AM »
My 4 or 5 years old seedling had a few fruits this year but I pick them off but saved one. Today it was ripe on the tree with golden yellow skin, and looks nothing like the original PC, and with a faint but nice smell too. Can't wait to taste it in next few days -- hopefully a new kind of good fruit. The tree had flower last year but all fruits dropped off. It's about 3" trunk and 10 feet tall.
The green young fruit didn't have any smell, just like the mother PC, but this ripe fruit has the nice smell that PC don't.
Note: I shaded the fruit from the sun -- experienced from last year lost -- and so the distinct yellow skin is not from exposure to the strong sun.

Peach Cobbler is so delicious.  Keep us updated!!! A new variety!  Seems many people have planted out a lot of the new Zill seedlings in California.  Hopefully, we'll get some good new varieties or strain!

An improved Peach Cobbler?  That would be a coup!
