Anyone growing the M & N cherimoya ?
« on: March 03, 2016, 10:20:52 PM »
Just curious if anyone has any experiences growing the M & N  cherimoya ?   I've always been kinda interested in this variety but there's not really any info online about it.

Are you talking about the "Minh" variety of cherimoya, like posted here?

I don't think it is the same as Mihn.  The CRFG Fruit Facts sheets lists M&N as a synonym of Knight.

I have one planted at my sister house. The one growing at my house got killed by the strong wind; it snapped near the graft and never recovered. The leaves are huge (as wide as my face) if the tree is happy. The fruits are conical with protruding skin similar to el bumpo; the fruits are pretty with very green skin even when mature. The 2 trees I got are from Alex from Papaya Tree Nursery a few years back when I visited the Green Scene Fair down Fullerton. Below is the accurate picture of M&N. You have to scroll all the way down at the page to see the M&N

No this is a different variety. Paul Thomson told me years ago that it came from the M&N nursery in San Diego back in the 50's. He said that he used to propagate it for them . I'm just  curious if anyone might have it in their collection and be able to comment on it's characteristics. For me it would be more of a collectors item.

Thanks for the article link . I'll have to call Alex and see if he has any trees for sale.
