I found this video extremely interesting especially because it seems as though our climate is slightly changing. And that's why I'm grafting more of the easy blooming varieties. Dr Campbell mentioned that closer to the Equator they use plant growth inhibitors or plant steroids to induce bloom. I Wonder if he's referring to gibberellic acid. Well I guess I have my homework cut out for me. Not too happy with partial blooms on some of my trees and the wind of last week was a real kick in the pants

Yeah it was very interesting. It sounds like Mango’s are well on their way to becoming like citrus or stone fruit with the hybrids.

I believe that gibberelic acid can actually inhibit flowering in higher concentrations. He might be talking about Paclobutrazol? In doing some research, it stated that it slows vegetative growth by inhibiting gibberellin synthesis. Might warrant further investigation to see if it can increase flowering in mangoes.

He's taking the genetic selection/selective hybridization approach over the chemical treatment approach.

Exciting to know he was able to gather/preserve/experiment with forlorn genetics that could potentially benefit the industries, but also that the discoveries could benefit future efforts in unexpected ways.

I'm really interested in rootstock influences by the newer discoveries.

Yeah it would be awesome to see a slideshow presentation of some of his adventures. I would like to see the photo of the mango tree growing near saltwater. Chris's in depth knowledge really makes for great mango videos. Bravo Bellissimo!
