Passiflora incarnata ‘Supernova’
ethane:
Hi friends,
I’m looking for anyone who might have Passiflora incarnata ‘Supernova’ and could send me a cutting or root section. I am the originator of ‘Supernova’, and I have lost mother plant, and have been unable to locate any additional material. It was sold by Brushwood Vines for a few years, so there are people out there that have it, I assume. Brushwood discontinued selling it and no longer has any plants.
For those of you not familiar with ‘Supernova’, it is a natural tetraploid that I discovered, and makes large white flowers.
If I’m able to obtain this, I would like to make it available to others as well, in hopes that it doesn’t get lost again.
Thanks!
Ethan

Hi Ethan,
Maybe post in the main Tropical Fruit Discussion section or to one of the existing passion fruit discussion threads for higher visibility like this one https://tropicalfruitforum.com/index.php?topic=59903.75
Beautiful flower! I hope you are able to find someone who is growing it.

I have a white one from your seeds and I can say that it emerges earlier and is more virgorous than my other maypops. But no idea if it is tetraploid. Is there any way to tell without testing it?

Hey there!!
I’m not sure. I’m pretty ignorant of plant genetics. Only thing I think of with polyploid Passiflora is larger flowers and of course sterility…..
