Title: Amoa 8
Post by: lebmung on March 14, 2021, 01:12:12 PM
Very dark red almost black. The juice stains the skin.
Taste is sweet with very little sourness. All that red juice is full of anthocyanins. I wonder how red my new faustrime hybrid will be.

Found one seed if anyone is interested.

That is an amazing citrus! Very interesting.  What is the parentage of it?

I think it is an Avana mandarin crossed with blood orange Moro.

Very interesting how intense the redness is. Could it be a good parent to produce red coloring in existing varieties?

I would be interested in the seed  :)

Yes, but color is more easily developed than in Moro I have the impression. My Amoa8 fruits were always dark red while those of Moro were only sometimes dark red.

Amoa tastes good when red, or bright red, once turns dark red, it become tasteless or the taste is bad.

Thanks Radoslav, can it be compared to Tarocco in taste, when it is not deep red?
