Title: Native crabapple as rootstock
Post by: Citradia on November 15, 2021, 09:11:51 AM
Does anyone know if native crabapple such as malas coronaria or angustifolia can make good rootstocks for modern apple cultivars such as McIntosh or red delicious? Iím good with cleft graft citrus but havenít tried apples yet.

It will work some of the native  crabs could be better suited for wet sites as well.
No personal experience just what I've read,
but have my own dwarf 4 foot crab that grew as a volunteer may make it a multi tree though (half original_)
