Wow those are some serious roots. I've thought about those deep pots but everyone says avocado  roots like to spread. Do you see any issues after up potting? Or since you have tons of roots they spread out quickly after transplanting?

Thanks for the feedback.

I was planning on cutting off one shoot but now I might graft both and cut off the weaker one.

And you are good. It does in fact need light and bigger pot. I left on a vacay and came back and it had grown very thin and tall. I start my seeds in small pots. I learned not to waste my time with weak seeds. this way I weed out the weak growing seeds. I'm trying to hold off until January to put in bigger pots.

The tree looks fine. I grafted it once and it failed and grew a new shoot. it's a zutano seed. I have a gem graft and the same thing happened. It seems to be growing fine for now. But other grafts this hasn't happened. Don't know if it's normal process or Im over watering or some disease. There seems to be some really small insects on it.

Anyone growing avocado from seed and experience this? Avocado pit turning black and breaking off? Is this normal or cause for concern?!

I've had reed and I don't see the big fuss. I've had it from different places thinking it may be that grower and not impressed. I need to try sharwil and nabal. I have a grafted sharwil that should flower next year. But to me any avocado is better than no avocado. =)

I have Jan Boyce. Probably not the best time to graft. They already flushed new growth but never say never.

Nice looking trees. Is there a reason you have them on cinder blocks? Just curious.

With a sharp razor blade you can make cuts to let out some of that condensation. Just slice the film and try not to disturb the scion.

This graft took off. It's grafted onto an old avocado tree that I stumped. Its about a 15 year old tree with established roots. That's why I think it grew so fast. It's an avocado tree with about 9 different varieties. I have 3 varieties that just exploded with growth. regular Hass, that Jimenez and sharwil. I have a fourth that I thought was Lamb Hass but looks more like fuerte. I cut it way back. I like fuerte fruit but the tree grows too big and too unpredictable. That's what the tree looked like when I grafted it.

It's scion from an orchard in Michoacán México. Supposedly it's Jimenez. I grafted it last August and it flowered in March. Has about 10 fruits hanging on and it's flowering again. I say supposedly because they really don't care what variety it is on Mexico, it's all sold as Hass. But the growers see differences in trees and fruit so that's why they said this is Jimenez. I have Flor de María also grafted and that one has not flowered yet. That tree is located in Torrance near Carson in CA.

I would agree with you but it's growing like a weed. I don't think that's a sharwil growth pattern. I'm afraid it may be a fuerte. I chopped down a 15 year old fuerte cause it never produced.

I have this grafted labelled as Lamb Hass. I really starting to doubt it is.

If I remember correctly it's from a home grown avocado in the south bay. But I also buy some at Trader Joe's so there is a chance i mixed up seeds. I'm horrible at keeping track. I say to myself I'll remember and never do. I'm slowly learning to label stuff.

Thanks for the info. It's a hass seedling. I thought it looked abnormal.

I have this avocado seedling growing and never had any grow like this. It looks odd.

Avocado tree with a bunch of grafts. If I remember correctly I did 11 and 10 took. One broke during the high winds but the rest are growing well. One is already flowering this year. That was grafted in August 2022.
