I sprayed it with foliage spray and lightly fertilized it. Hope that works.

Tropical Fruit Buy, Sell & Trade / Re: Looking for Lamb Hass Scions
« on: May 14, 2022, 12:46:42 AM »
To be honest Brad I've hoarded scions for 2 years now since I got into grafting that i can't keep track of where I got what. I have a label that it's Lamb Hass but I only recently started putting labels because I could no longer keep track of what is what. Its possible I could've mislabeled it. I have think it was grafted over a year ago. But that doesn't really give any information. I was hoping an avocado aficionado could tell by the leaves.  ;D

The red speckles looks like sharwil and had me wondering if it was Lamb Hass at all. I'm not sure if the red leaves is what Lamb Hass is suppose to look like?

Great scions arrived. Thank you Orkine!

I'm with Raul a ton to see there. But under the assumption you already did everything, I would ask the taxi drivers at your resort for a vivero. I learned the hard way I'm December that I should've asked a taxi driver for suggestions instead of overpaying for things.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Grafting avocado
« on: February 05, 2022, 11:25:41 AM »
I did some grafting on a big trunk. Avocado was about 15-20 feet and a seedling. Waited too long to graft it. Very slow producing. Not traditional grafting but if they fail I'll try again on the growth. Keep trying until it works.

If you do enough grafting you know the difference. Like Brad said there is a place for all products. Most people on this site don't mind paying a little extra for better quality. If you compare side by side there are huge differences. What Amazon sells as grafting tape is pretty much Plastic. Grafting tape is much more elastic and you don't need to remove like the grafting tape. I've used all 3 and they all work but your success will vary on each product. I killed a Reed graft by not removing the plastic grafting tape. Since it's not elastic it girdled the graft and killed it. I don't have to do that maintenance with parafilm or grafting tape.

Citrus General Discussion / Re: CCPP Budwood Price Hike
« on: January 16, 2022, 01:36:06 PM »
Just looked at my history and I paid .75 per bud. They did lower the minimum to 3 buds vs 6. $15 per scion is still a lot. Maybe get with other growers buy a variety at a nursery and chop up that tree and share scions. I was planning on getting more this spring but not at $5 per bud. Thats ridiculous.

Hey Brad,

Curious as to why Jan Boyce didn't make your list? From what you read online people love that one. Doesn't grow/produce well there?

What days you going to be in socal. And socal is really big. Can you specify whereabouts?

Lazy Acres is selling these. Doesn't mention any variety, only green skin avocado. Workers don't have a clue.

I heard of Jimenez variety. It's sold as Hass in Mexico. From what I understand it's another variety such as Mendez (Carmen) in Mexico. Trying to see if anyone has any experience with it in socal.
