Great website!

one quick note!  the banner at the top reads

Fresh exotic rare seeds from around the world ship direct from our Califotnia USA location.

I assume you have not seceded and formed the republic of Califotnia  :P

Loquat jam is bomb-

1:1 by weight with sugar of your choice

I think they are also dioecious, so you'd have to buy at least 5 to get that rare female.

They are- not sure why you think you would need 5 though

1 plant = 1/2 shot of no female
2 plants = 1/4 chance of no female
3 plants = 1/8 chance no female

and so on, unless you know something that says males are more common than females?

Another positive is it ripens in the Winter

This is their biggest advantage to me, a nice change up from regular persimmons and there is not a lot that ripens in winter

Garcinia have notoriously long taproots, and are susceptible to damage during transplant-

If you want to try it still the best plan is to try to remove the entirety of the tree with soil and move it

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: Eugenia smithii as rootstock?
« on: June 14, 2022, 05:09:36 PM »
I am definitely not the expert on this forum bit IIRC Eugenia do not show the same cross-species ease in grafting that appears to be observed with many other genus-

I know of at least one anecdote where different varietals of CORG do not graft well and they are, presumably, the same species

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Best Fruit Places to Visit Near Palo Alto
« on: June 07, 2022, 02:09:33 PM »
Hey All,

Through life's strange turns I am making a move to Palo Alto for a bit- wondering if anyone has decent places to recommend to forage/get new and cool fruits to try-

On my last trip to the bay area I enjoyed some Arbutus unedo from the UCSF campus and also got to try some Syzygium leuhmanii and others from the SF Botanic Garden

Thanks
