Tropical Fruit Discussion / Re: 2024 FL Mango Season

I have overhead irrigation for frost protection. I could change out microjet sprinkler heads to a higher gallons per hour head andcould possibly run it once a week for a duration to wash rinse off some powdery mildew. Is this Ludacris or plausible?

This seems like a reasonable thought..  On the other hand could it not spread it to an adjacent tree if the water is misting? I truly don't know, just considering possibilities.  Could the misters be set up for routine sulfur and/or copper application?

What I really wanted to ask you about though, is can you show me how you set up your overhead irrigation for cold protection?  I am curious of this, as I live in the 9B/10A area (W FL / Tampa) and and will soon be planting out a grove. Have about 11 trees in the ground now, but I'm usually putting lights on them or covering the smaller ones over the winter, which won't work well in the long run for a larger grove.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Mango jeopardy: What's that disease?
« on: September 09, 2021, 03:53:56 PM »
Hello all, I have a new Orange Sherbet tree. I am not sure when I became aware of the dark spots of the tree's stems, but at some point in my short ownership I noticed them. Other that the leaf stems, the leaves themselves are seemly unaffected (although one picture shows a blemish of uncertain etiology). Is this BBS, another pathology, or something benign?  The tree has since started to push quite a few new stems, so I do not think it is dying (at least without one last stand).

Thanks for the help!
