Can anyone provide information on Frank's garcinia? I got some seeds and I am trying to find out more about the fruit.

I have tried searching the posts with no luck; any info or pics of the plant and fruit would be appreciated.

Thanks

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Interesting Pineapple shoot
« on: February 27, 2018, 10:15:36 PM »
I have 50 plus pineapple plants and just got something new: one of my plants have a shoot, however it is not a normal looking round flower/shoot. It looks to be elongated and seems to have 5or six parts in one.

My fruit trees are almost all organically grown and since I have gone this way I same to be getting a few surprises from nature: I had a male papaya tree change to female and yield papayas on stems about 18 inches of the tree (they were delicious with only about 4 seeds each), I had a dragon fruit morphed to the dragon vine (tasted the same as normal ones) and now this!

If anyone has any ideas as to what pineapple type fruit I will end up with, please let me know.

Thanks
Jo

Tropical Fruit Discussion / Unusual fruiting of Papaya
« on: November 29, 2017, 08:31:23 PM »
Hi,

I received some papaya seeds from a friend and planted them. The seeds were from a papaya she had bought from the grocery store and she thought it was super sweet, very little seeds and had thick meat.

Attached is a photo of the plant now fruiting, however it is the first time that I have seen papayas fruit on a stem  away from the truck of the plant. Each stem is between 12 to 18 inches from the truck, then the papaya.

Additionally, if you look at the long stem blossoms in the picture, this is what I am accustom to seeing on a male papaya tree, but of course on a male tree there are never any papayas.

Any ideas? Maybe this type of fruiting is normal for a specific type of papaya? If so, what type could it be?

Looking forward to your feedback.

Tropical Fruit Discussion / How can I keep my rambutan seedlings growing
« on: September 28, 2017, 12:12:18 AM »
I am on my third batch of rambutan seedlings in the last two years, without any success.
I am not sure what I am doing wrong but usually once my seedlings reach about
8 or 10 inches, they die off.

Can anyone provide some advice please?

Thanks
Jo
