First, your tree is still small, and has a corresponding small root system.  The roots most likely extends out about the same distance and the above leaves Poncirus guy recommendation to remove the grass from under the tree is one thing that NEEDS to be done., as it is surely robbing most of the available nutrients from the tree.  I would remove the grass to match the trees drip line. Further, what has been the tree's nutrient plan.  A young tree such as your needs should to be fertilized 4 times equally spaced out during the growing season (March through September)  You can use 6-6-6 or 10-10-10.

I agree the tree doesn't look all that bad.  Note: the highest period of leaf fall for a citrus tree is during flowering.   Your tree does look a little undernourished.  A three year old citrus tree should be fertilized 4 times a year equally spaced out during the growing season (March - September).

I have not seen them dry much, but quickly deteriorate, especially after falling from the tree.    After falling from the tree the fruit will quickly become soft and  start to decay.  The pummelo that I have seem perfectly fine to eat when quickly picked up after they fall from the tree. The best time is to pick them (especially grapefruit) when a slightest twist easily removes them from the tree.

I believe it is just the result of the transition from the inside to the outside.  Many growers set their trees in a shaded spot for several days to a week before placing the tree in the direct light of the sun.

I don't think the single leaf you show was caused by over fertilizing.  Over fertilizing damage normally shows leaf burning or scorching.  It is impossible to determine a tree's problem from seeing just one leaf. It would be much better to show a picture of the whole tree rather then just one leaf.

.brian, the trees you show look very well balanced, healthy, and amazingly well taken care of.  What is the mix you are using in the shallow containers  (turface & MG) or 5-1-1

Ultra Fine horticultural oil (the brand I use) vaporizes off of the leaves in approximately 1+- hours.  Therefore, it does not clog the  stomata for days and days, letting the leaves to breathe.  Various cooking oils remain coating the stomata for longer period of time.

Pollen remains useable for approximately three weeks to a month at normal room temperature   Much long when cooled.  How about using a plastic envelope instead of a paper envelope?
