https://news.ucr.edu/articles/2023/10/24/luna-ucr-avocado-one-times-2023-best-inventionsI see that they were calling it "Marvel" but changed the name to Luna UCR. The article says it will become available to home growers in time. I will trust Brad and a few others to tell us if it's equal to Hass in flavor!
Did anyone hear about the Luna avocado?
There are several articles about it online. Hass quality but small tree size.
Check the above link from UC.
Thankful for my brand new patio forest and my family for supporting it. Also thankful for all the cool stuff I’ve gotten to try this year, Frank’s (FLNative) mangoes were the best I’ve ever had. Next year I should have much more to be thankful for once many of my trees start bearing. What's a "patio forest?" All your trees are in pots in the patio?
John, lots of lychee trees here in central Florida are still doing fine. We were the center of commercial lychee production for 30-40 years before the major freezes of the 50s, 70s, and 80s. Many of those old Brewster trees had excellent crops this past year. So far, most of the really old trees have escaped major mite damage. That's great to hear.
Is this a tropical fruit forum or a palm forum?!I suppose you could report this to the moderator.
There's a Bailey Palm in Naples Botanical Gardens we admire when we visit.
And I'm getting me an Old Man Palm for Christmas.
But this ain't a palm forum, right?!
Hi @BayTropics, it's concerning when you have a reliable source like Adam at AKME Gardens, and there's a sudden lack of communication or delays in receiving your orders. Hopefully, he's doing fine, and there might be some unforeseen circumstances causing the delay. You could try reaching out to him directly to inquire about your order's status and his well-being.For our British friends. Actually this is spam.
By the way, if you're looking to enhance your garden experience, you might want to consider adding a small corner summer house. It can be a lovely addition to your garden, providing a cozy spot to relax and enjoy your outdoor space.
Inflorescence spotted on Sugar Loaf. And so it begins again...We'll have to start new topic, "Mango Season 2024."
I think SeaWalnut may have been the only one ever actually chased away? There was this lady in London, I believe. She was a nutcase and was banned after a while. And there was also bsbullie, who liked to insult and/or demean people but had much useful mango information, being a friend of the Zills. He stopped participating on his own.
I will be presenting at the SB Horticultural Society about rare fruits on Nov 1st at 7pm next week. It's free. Most members of TFF will recognize everything I'm talking about and be bored, but figured I'd mention it anyhow if someone were in the area and wanted to check it out. This stuff is never boring to us even the parts we know or have heard before! The church doesn't like you very much?
I can’t narrow it down but citrus for me!Boring.
Blood oranges, Ugli fruit, and gold nuggets are my top 3
Durian - I don't think anything else comes close.Where did you go to eat them?
