Top worked branches on Eugenia aggregata

I thought I would post pics of a cherry of the Rio Grande seedling that had awful fruit and I got scions from Adam, and top worked some of the branches last year!

My trees finally appear to be setting fruit

I hope they are larger this year and have seeds!! Lol

I have 3 grafted trees, but all the same variety

I'm wondering if the calycina helped pollinate ...cuz my tree that's closest to the calycina set the most fruit

My other larger, more isolated tree has only a few that look like they will set....but it's still early to say for sure

i've seen people in brazil do that for big jaboticaba scions!  I've never tried though

btw..make sure to remove all those suckers trying to grow beneath the scions!  you gotta keep the branches trimmed up, underneath the scion...so the rootstock doesn't take over!  its' a bit of work at first, but the scions will take over soon.

That is a good looking tree 
It's good to hear that you can top work the COTRG. After waiting a couple of years to see what the fruit tastes like I wouldn't want to have to chop the little tree down.

At what time in the year did you do the grafts?

Solko, thanks for comment as far as when I'll have to check by records! I did a quick check but have to look back @ payment record. Was around end of April or May but will post when I find record!

Solko, I bought the scions from Adam@FlyingFoxFruits last year April 15th 2015 and grafted around 24th or 25th of April all grafts were whip and tongue. I made about 12-grafts and lost 4-grafts!

Thanks for checking Scott. Springtime grafting seems to be ideal for most Myrtaceae out in the field. That is a very good percentage of takes
