Ruby supreme 10/30

On another board I read a post about the 10/30 guava stating it was a superior  tasting cultivar and did not have a problem with fruit fly.

Is anyone here familiar with it from an owner's pov?

Also who sells it?

I recall Cookie Monster saying a while back that Lara's propagated it.

TopTropicals has it in 3 gall pot. I have a Ruby Supreme (not 10/30) but haven't try any fruit yet. Would like to know if there is really a difference in taste.

I had it at one time. The problem I had with it was that the flavor was odd -- bitter if memory serves. The regular ruby supreme (the one that gets the fly larvae) tastes much better.

These days, I prefer the vietnamese and taiwanese guavas, which can be eaten hard before the fruit flies get a chance to infest.

The 10-30 actually can get fruit fly but it occurs much less frequently than other guavas and where it does it usually isn't as severe an infestation.

Thanks CM. I am more interested in flavor than the fruit fly issue since retiring I can bag every fruit as I have more time.

 I have two ruby supreme but last summer had a devil of a time with scale, but I have that under control again from more post retirement time available to spray and manually clean the trees.
