I chopped mine up yesterday, I think I got my fruit the same place (same day) as you at Pan tropic (john painter's). Fruit was split from the increase in rain and moisture but ripen perfectly on the counter at home after a few days. scratched the skin and saw deep orange.
it was pretty firm and crunchy like an apple, easy to peel. Tasted like a peachy apricot, first bite or two seemed weird as I never experienced that flavor before but it grew on me and actually became tasty. lots of meat and I bet makes a handsome tree, I will plant the seed. It had one large seed in the center that didn't separate too easily had to keep cutting flesh off of it.
