Giant Mulchi Ecuador - Plinia Inflata. Update 3-14-2022
« on: February 23, 2022, 07:34:05 PM »
Hello TFF Members

I am considering importing Giant Mulchi (Shawi - Plinia Inflata) seeds from Ecuador. Is there any interest in these seeds? DHL shipping is expensive for a small box so I was considering adding more seeds to my order to alleviate costs.

Seeds would be around 10$/piece

Please reply directly on the post -- no need to message at this time

Best regards

3-9-2022 Update: Some seeds area available and ready to ship in the US. $10.00 each for TFF members

How low do you think you could get the price with a lot more seeds or is $10 about as low as it can go?

The dang shipping costs are so expensive from Quito. Its like 300$ for a small box. Low amounts helps spread the cost out, you would need to purchase 50 seeds or more for a price break

Still a relatively good deal, these are hard to find in the US. When they are it was usually at least 12/15$ per seed. I just paid 80$ for a seedling recently

does 10/seed include shipping costs or would that be tacked on at the end?

10$/pc includes shipping in the US

Right now because of my small(ish) order and the price of shipping - my total cost per seed is around 12$. If I sized up my order I can get a 20% reduction roughly by getting more seeds in the box.

I am not trying to ask anyone to prepay. I am just trying to see if it would be worth it to get extras or just go ahead and get the quantity I desire

If we got several hundred seeds it could go further down but it doesn’t seem like there is enough interest to get several hundred seeds. So I am okay with just getting my small order

How reliable of a seller is this person?

If they're from Jim West in Ecuador as I suspect, he's very reliable. I've ordered giant mulchi in the past from him and they sprouted fine even with the long transit including usda inspection along the way.

Is it a known seller? Just want to have some confidence it’s the real deal.
Thanks

it's not an international seller, it is a farmer, friend of a friend who is from Ecuador

Not sure what you mean by the "real deal", but Mulchi is currently in season in Ecuador and they are harvesting buckets of Mulchi and processing seeds and storing with vermiculite

Hope this helps. I feel I must reiterate, I am not asking anyone to pre-order with me. I can already feel it get way too confusing and hectic. So the seeds will be on hand in the US by the time I ask for any money. I am a new seller and only have a few sales on the forum, but have done plenty of trades and spent lots with sellers here and on facebook. If you are interested to discuss further we can direct message

by the way, if anyone else feels that they can supply cheaper or in the US, I would be interested to hear. I don't know of anyone who is currently stocking it, especially 50-100 seeds which is what I am interested in

Best regards

We have considered this for a bigger order but with housing and other expenses would be at least 750

Mulchi requires 50-70% shade for its early life. Keep it protected from sun :)
