Hey there...

How well do these hold up during shipping with high temps? In TX and current temps are mid 90s to low 100s.

Thanks

They have shipped fine to Texas so far.  If they drop the leaves they will push new growth easily with proper care, although I haven’t had that issue yet. As with any shipping I have no control over local practices.  I can say these trees do fine in my high heat and  extreme dry Caribbean growing conditions

Hey Bloom,

I ordered one from Bob and it arrived in Tampa, FL and did lose five or six leaves but it was very healthy and is pushing new growth from the two terminal branches. And BTW, we were in the low 90º range here in west central Florida during the time the parcel was in transit.

Also, Bob's packing was sturdy and so secure that I had to break out last my piece of kryptonite to get the parcel open!

Cheers!

Paul M.

Thanks for the good words Paul. I package so that it can be kicked like a football. Occasionally the leaves will drop in transit but they branch out from
there quickly with good care. Here is a photo of a seedling that I broke off to show in the event any one had any questions. Your’s should be at about the same rate of growth.

If I only have one will it require hand pollination to set fruit?

Hi TFS
Ilama flowers change from female to male so these are self fertile. You only need one tree. In tropical and subtropical regions these are pollinated by tiny beetles. It would be helpful to hand pollinate if growing outside these regions or indoors under lights. I notice your tag mentions Vancouver. Here’s a helpful video to watch.
