They look like Calamondins
Not sure if where you'd usually put a christmas tree is going to do well for citrus. A warm and dry indoor spot, combined with not much light, is a bad place. Brining the citrus inside isn't always a problem, but you'd typically want a cool place, the less light it gets, the colder it should be.

Yea, they do look like kumquat just not sure which cultivar. I think they also dispose it after the holiday like what people do with their Christmas trees. I wonder why they get rid of them.
